THE PROJECT
This project stems from an initiative by Pierre Boyer, Jean-Claude Petit and Professor Álvaro Barragan from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador
It was submitted to the Ministerio del Ambiente – Dirección Provincial de Imbabura – and the Provincial Director Ing. Segundo Fuentes granted the Autorización de Investigación Científica in november 2012.
Since that time the inventory is rolling under the technical responsibility of the Responsable Vida Silvestre y Educación Ambiental Ing. Marcelo Pantoja.
We take advantage of our experience on the Sangay National Park inventory ; and, up to now, results have been very encouraging
Field investigators are Pierre Boyer and Jean-Claude Petit.
The area investigated includes the Reserva proper and its buffer zone, limited by the following roads:
- to the North, Ibarra, San Lorenzo
- to the West, San Lorenzo, Esmeraldas
- to the South, Esmeraldas, Quininde, Nanegalito, Apuela, Otavalo,
- to the East, Otavalo, Ibarra.
