we never collected Hermeuptychia hermes West of the Andes, but we took this picture at las Juntas, which, we believe, allows for a positive identification ; and David Geale pictured it at Pedro Vicente Maldonado, and Juan Carlos Espin took pictures of a mating pair a little farther North.
its presence West of the Andes seems to make sense as there are records from Central America and particularly from Panamá.
