we saw this Teratophtalma at Alto Tambo and at Reserva las Golondrinas ; at Alto Tambo we had foundTeratophtalma monochroma, so we thought it was the female of this spsecies.
but, with a better look, we saw it was a male ? so, either there are two forms of Teratophtalma monochroma, or it is an undescribed species ?
and Rudy Gelis took a picture of, it would seem, the same butterfly, at San Carlos, much farther South ; but, almost on the same spot, he also took pictures of another similar looking Teratophtalma, but with much larger white stripes, and which is found on the next fact sheet
the problem is that we didn't find any documentation on this Group of Teratophtalma from the Choco area.
